Help Us Unite the SVLA Board of Directors

-
Who we are…
Welcome to our site.
We are a group of four running as a ticket to help move this community forward, and stop focusing on the past.
We bring an eclectic background to the table:
Jay Cohen brings 37 years of IT and leadership experience to our team. He’s worked for global organizations and has architected the technical stack for schools such as Southern New Hampshire University and the University of Maryland, Global Campus. He’s functioned as a leader on now 3 non-profit boards, helping ensure they stayed close to the mission of the organization and improve amenities. Currently, he is working on re-architecting the technology used to manage 4000 restaurants globally, for a company with a net worth of over 12 billon dollars.
Ryan Lewis helped manage a 1.6 billion dollar company and has a can-do attitude. He wants to focus on positive change and stop tabling important issues, rather than remain in the stagnated state we’re currently in. For work, Ryan works to maintain our power grid and brings a unique perspective to our team on infrastructure projects.
Robbie (Robert) Weber is a combat veteran and former law enforcement officer, coaches little league baseball, and brings an experienced fresh perspective to the team. Robbie is an HVAC expert and brings operational understanding to the table for issues plaguing our association buildings.
Mike Weis is the Chair of the SVLA citation review committee & the code enforcement taskforce. He is a retired battalion fire chief with 40 + years of experience. He has been involved with administering multi- million-dollar budgets with a strong leadership background. Mike is also the past President of the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce.
Together, we promise to bring respectful conversations, dialog, and unity to the SVLA board in order to push forward items that have been tabled and left undone. We believe we have the depth and breadth to handle much of the sorely needed updates to the association, and to get things done already.
We believe that the associations rules and regulations apply to everyone, and need to be enforced to maintain the beauty of the association, property values, and amenities that can be fully used.
Please allow us to move forward with your vote in April, and Unite SVLA.
If you would like to display a campaign sign, please email votered@unitesvla.com. If you look around, you’ll see many signs on well-respected members of this community’s houses…
Let’s address some of the negativity going around…
Yes, Ryan was arrested, but there was no case, no trial, no conviction, and nothing on his record now. The image floating around is when he went to the courthouse to have his record checked, and there was nothing attached to that case. An arrest is a police power used to control a situation, and persons arrested are not guilty of anything but being placed into custody.
The audit. Persons are floating a lot of misinformation.
It is still going on. The audit firm asked for more information which they are processing. The ENTIRE board voted to limit scope down to a few items to save on costs, as this has cost the association over 100,000 to date. The delay in moving forward was not due to the board trying to ‘hide’ anything. These things take time, and the board voted to have Director Stolfus as our representative to ensure we were as non-partisan as possible.
Conflict of interest happens when a seated board member benefits from an action taken that they voted on. To date, that has not happened despite one of this ticket’s spouses working for the association. It is important to note that this has only come up as of late as this employee has been at the association since this past summer… And again, what you won’t see (transparency???) is that the GM brought the employment application to the entire board to vote on her eligibility to work there. President Cohen recused himself from that discussion and vote and even left the room. The board voted unanimously (including Director Fitch) to allow her to apply and work at the association. So why now is there an issue?
There are many instances of misinformation and falsehoods being posted on social media, or not the whole truth…
Some things to think about…
The board voted on September 2nd to replace Director Fitch as treasurer. It wasn’t one person taking action, it was a vote of 4 yea, 2 nay, and one abstention (Director Stanton as he was taking the role on). That means 5 board members felt there was reason to take this action, including Director Verhagen (who ran with Director Fitch on her ticket. He made the motion).
Over 70% of the documents showing that an item was tabled in a board session in 2025 contain the phrase ‘Tabled by Fitch.’ This means that more (as there were more than 1 tabled item per document) than 70% of the items being tabled were moved to table by Director Fitch. You can see the minutes on the website to check yourself.
One of the ‘blue team’ candidates posted on Facebook that she was happy to have caused someone to ‘lose their job’ and had also called for a boycott of Director Eversole’s restaurant. Do we want someone on the board who will, when disagreeing with another board member, bring those concerns to impact the livelihood of other board members? How will she be able to have a proper discussion?
Our team has even had a campaign sign removed from private property by a prominent member of this community. When he verified it was in fact placed with permission, he felt it was ok to not replace it, but return it to Public Safety, and post in one Facebook group that he verified the permission, not the at least 8 he posted in attempting to smear this campaign.
We need respectful conversations, proper decorum, and not continue to escalate name calling and stop attacking a person’s reputation and integrity.
Why would someone who was ‘new’ to the community risk his name and reputation for people who he barely knew when Director Fitch moved to have him join the board? It doesn’t make sense, other than President Cohen looked at the facts and data to realize that there’s more to it than it being revealed to the community.
Yes, there is a lot to do in this HOA. But we as a team will bring dignity and respect back to this community, and this HOA board.
